Brunico
The Pearl of the Val Pusteria
Brunico combines wonderful characteristics of the region. The Tauferer Ahrntal Valley and the Gadertal Valle meet in the green Pustertal Valley, where the Ahr flows into the Rienz. This is where fashionable flair meets true South Tyrolean characteristics reflected in architecture, cultural and leisure activities as well as in the mentality of the locals. Easy to spot are Bruneck Castel (located on a wooded hill) and Rainkirche Church. If you go through one of the impressive town gates you will find yourself in the midst of a lively town. Small shops next to exlusive boutiques, cafés and enotecas line the long Stadtgasse alley.
In 2009 Brunico was named the best small town in Italy to live in.
