Peitlerkofel/Sasso Putia

We start our mountain tour at Passo delle Erbe (2,006 metres), which can be reached from San Martino in Badia. From the parking space (subject to charge) near the Ütia de Börz we follow the broad forest road no. 8A towards Ütia Göma.
After a first section through the forest, we soon reach the wonderful meadows full of alpine roses. At the fork, where the trail to the Ütia Göma branches off, we turn right into trail no. 8A leading along the meadows.
The trail gets narrower as we get closer and closer to the rocks. On trail no. 4, which becomes continuously steeper, we hike along a stream through a long valley till we arrived at the Putia mountain pass (2,357 metres).
We continue our tour on Mount Sasso Putia on many serpentines and through a landscape becoming more and more alpine until we reach the saddle between the so-called „small“ and „big“ Sasso Putia.

From here, a steep fixed rope route leads up to the peak of the „big“ Sasso Putia.
Children and hikers with only few hiking experience should use a climbing harness. After the fixed rope route, a short stony trail finally leads to the peak cross of Mount Sasso Putia, where a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain panorama awaits us: the Dolomites with Mount Marmolata, the Zillertal Alps and many other mountain ranges. Finally, we take the same way back to our starting point.
