Sasso Nero

Starting point: San Giovanni - mountain hut Stallila (1,472 m; restaurant and parking). The direction to «Schwarzensteinhütte» takes you to the mountain huts of Gschöllberg and Daimeralm (1,862 m). The signposted «Gletscherweg» starts on boulders or snow and continues with sections on rocks equipped with safety cables. The steep ascent continues relatively easily up to the Rifugio Schwarzenstein- Vittorio Veneto (2,922m, at least 4 hours from the car park; overnight stay recommended). We climb up through broken rocks and snow to the summit ridge (Felsköpfl, 3,235 m) and then across the glacier preferably with all team members roped-up to reach the base of the summit and leading up to the cross (3,368 m; 1:30 hour) along the east rocky ridge of boulders. Return via the same route.
